NickelPAC Launches Campaign to Sunset the Nickel, Save Taxpayers Millions

NickelPAC, a Jacksonville-based Super PAC, today

announced its mission to end production of the U.S.

five-cent coin - a taxpayer-funded loss leader costing

13.78 cents to mint for just 5 cents in value.

The group will pre-file the Nickel Sunset Act in the

Florida Legislature by Q1 2026, a one-page bill that:

- Halts new nickel production after December 31,

2026

- Rounds cash transactions to the nearest dime

- Preserves existing nickels as legal tender

NickelPAC is mobilizing Americans through viral

memes, targeted lobbying, and hiring Canadian rock

band Nickelback to perform a free attendance concert

summer 2026.

"Every nickel minted is a tax on Floridians," said Dirk

Frazel, NickelPAC Founder. "We're turning outrage into

action — and waste into savings."
